The purpose of a human
birth is to realize the divine. Through the realization, we can live a good
life without misery. We can live a simple life. It has been assessed that
today's human population is 650 crores. But the human population since its
inception cannot be calculated.
Among these numberless
people, only a few have realized the Divine and, others have not. The latter
also stop with the recognizing the Realized Masters but do not follow them in
their lives.
The reason for this is
that the human race has not evolved from the Divine directly. It has evolved
from the five sense animals which in-turn had evolved from the lower order of
living beings. The present society is the continuation of early man with all
these animal imprints in the Genetic Centre. Because of this and, because of
the needs and circumstances, in most of the people, animal qualities are found
more. Anger itself is an important sign which shows that man has the animal
qualities.
The worship of the
Divine not be necessary for the beasts, but it is essential for man. All living
beings, including man, seek pleasure. Except man, the other living beings do
not experience pain while enjoying the pleasure. The Divine itself remains as
guidance for those living beings. But man while enjoying the pleasure, goes
beyond the limits and experiences pain.
Why doesn't the divine
remain as a guide to man? In fact, the divine has provided the human beings the
discriminative faculty; using this, we can understand what is good and what is
not and by doing the good things, we can always enjoy the benefit of such
actions. Miseries sometimes come to man unexpectedly. They may be the results
of actions which were done in previous birth or present birth, or they might
have been the results for the actions done by their parents or their ancestors.
People like to live a happy life, but they do not perform actions which do not
cause miseries.
What is Yoga?
Yoga means uniting. What
does uniting mean and with whom? Yoga is the unity between the human mind with
the consciousness of the Divine. As we unite with the divine, we get the divine
awareness, but in the ordinary sense, the word 'Yoga' is used to refer to the
small benefit we get in the practical life. The material benefits of the
day-today life are important. But we unite with the divine, we experience the
bliss and that is the ultimate purpose of yoga.
